Corridor
This corridor in a country house felt gloomy and ill proportioned. It has been given a new ceiling with a shallow barrel vault punctuated by saucer domes with lay lights, illuminated using sun pipes. The apparently regular effect took some careful planning; a measured survey revealed that the corridor tapered along its length and each dome needed to be made to a different diameter. The plaster details are original designs based upon early nineteenth century examples.
